T- In this section The Wife of Bath tells the beginning of her tale. EX- "You'll taste another brew before i've done;/ You'll find it doesn't taste as good as ale;" (8-9) T- Is this tale going to be more of a lecture about relationships? Y- The reading was interesting because it talked about the womans past husbands and that she controlled them. -Michael Guest
T: The Wife of Bath's was married several times but she loved the husband that beat her tho most because "he was disdainful in his love." EX: "And of that maiden, spite all she said,/By very force he took her maiden \head." (Chaucer 63-64) T: Why did the knight kill the maiden when she was alone in the woods? Y: The story i thought was interesting, I think it's weird that the wife loved the man that beat her the most.
T: As Cassidy said i read about how the Wife of Bath's was married a few times. EX: "And when I've finished telling you my tale/ Of tribulation in the married life/ In which I've been an expert as a wife." (11-13) T: Then why have you been married so many times, clearly your not doing something right, if either one of you isnt happy? Y: Personally i do not enjoy reading this because i do not find it entertaining
T-The Wife tells about how she was maried five times. Each relationship seemed a bit sketch, espcially how the relationships were. Meaning, how she would control them, how she got cheated on, and then how she got beat and loved that husband the most. EX-"Of tribulation in the married life/ In which I've been an expert as a wife,/ That is to say, myself have been the whip." (Chaucer 11-13) T-Why did she continue to get married so many times? Y-Uh.. I don't really get her motive on being married and why she continues to have bad relationships, but I guess the story was interesting. -Lindsay J
t-this section begins with the wife telling stories of her past marriages some being violent while others not so violent but in a sense for her bad. ex-"And please don't be offended by my views;/ They're really only offered to amuse"(p.135 L.29-30) t-I am wondering why the wife loves the fifth husband who beat her the most? y- This reading makes me feel like women are kinda not sustained unless by a husband. She is constantly married and seems like alone with out a husband if that ever happens. But i guess this is how times were like back then.
T- Reading this i couldn't get out of my on how many husbands the wife had. Its very shocking to me. Ex- "by other men shall suffer there correction/ so ptolemy has said/ in this connection./ almatest you'll find it there." (19-21) T- Why has the wife gone through so many marriages Y- Reading this made me laugh. How are you so bad at marriages.
This Woman is pretty messed up. She clearly has some relationship or commitment issues. She talks of her five husbands and how she is so "experienced" with men. What?? "The fifth would beat her, and yet she loved him the most." What is wrong with you lady? I don't know how this tale makes me feel. I guess my biggest question is why even put a story like this in a catalog of tales like this? I guess you could say i'm confused.
T- I read about a women who was extremely intent on having people listen to his story. EX-"'You wait,'she said' 'my story's not begun. You'll taste another brew before I've done; You'll find it doesn't taste as good as ale;' T- Why is will brew not taste as good as ale? and what does that mean? Y- I don't understand why she feels like her story is so magnificent that everyone must hear. It doesn't make sense. Shouldn't the it be more about the journey?
T-The wife of Bath had 5 husbands and she wanted to be the master of the husbands. Ex-"Of tribulationin the married life/ In which I've been an expert as a wife,/ That is to say, myself have been the whip." (11) T-Why does the wife feel the need to be the master? Y-The reading made me feel like it would suck to be her husband.

T-The wife in the story is a pretty messed up lady. Its funny how she is still with that guys when he abuses her. Ex-"Of tribulation in the married life/ In which I've been an expert as a wife,/ That is to say, myself have been the whip." (Chaucer 11-13) T-Why does she think shes a good person by staying with the man that beats her. Y-I was very confused by what she was saying and doing and i do not know how i feel about the story.
